Last-Minute Rescue: Abandoned Dog Saved from Euthanasia for Barking

The poor pup was only with his family for five short weeks before they made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him. Lucie Holmes, the founder of Lucie’s Animal Rescue, received a call from the family asking if she could take their dog. Apparently, the dog had issues with barking at other dogs and people while out on walks. When Holmes inquired about what training the dog had received to address these issues, the family revealed that he had not received any. Unfortunately, the rescue was already at full capacity, so Holmes had to decline taking the dog in at that time.

The dog had been part of his family for only a short time when Holmes hoped that they would resolve their problems. However, a phone call surprised her deeply. A local veterinarian had contacted her to notify that the dog was brought in for euthanasia. Fortunately, the veterinarians declined to put the dog down. Holmes then reached out to the owner again and offered to make room for the dog in her schedule. She believed that the dog did not have to die merely because he required some time and training.

Holmes was already taking care of a lot of rescues, but he didn’t hesitate to make space for Marcus, the dog that needed saving. At first, Marcus was a bit apprehensive when he arrived at his new shelter, but it didn’t take him long to feel comfortable and start enjoying all the affection he had missed out on.

Holmes shared that Marcus initially arrived at their place with a lot of fear and anxiety, but after spending some time with them, he started playing with their other dogs and even their children. The best part is that he still hasn’t barked after five days! It’s amazing what a little bit of love and patience can do for a scared dog like Marcus. He finally has a chance to be happy and live his life to the fullest.

According to Holmes, Marcus is currently being evaluated, but they have received numerous adoption requests for him. Their ultimate goal is to find him a loving and permanent home. In case you want to contribute to the cause and assist Marcus and other animals in need, you can donate to Lucie’s Animal Rescue.
